Adapted CBT for ADHD or ASD

Individuals with ADHD or Autism Spectrum Disorder often experience difficulties such as emotional dysregulation, overwhelm, or challenges in day-to-day organisation. Adapted CBT offers a structured, evidence-based approach that is adjusted to each person’s cognitive style, sensory needs, and communication preferences. The focus is on developing practical strategies and psychological understanding that support improved functioning and wellbeing.

CBT Adapted for ADHD

When working with ADHD, therapy typically centres on enhancing emotional regulation, improving attention management, and developing effective routines and organisational systems. Sessions may involve identifying unhelpful patterns of thinking or behaviour, strengthening executive functioning skills, and building practical strategies that support consistency and reduce frustration. The work aims to increase a sense of agency and stability in daily life.

CBT Adapted for ASD

Adapted CBT for Autism prioritises clarity, predictability, and respect for the individual’s sensory and communication needs. Treatment may include developing emotional awareness, managing anxiety or sensory overload, and supporting social or relationship understanding where relevant. Sessions are structured collaboratively and paced to ensure comfort and transparency, with an emphasis on the client’s strengths and preferred ways of processing information.
